Thursday, October 25th, 2007

The latest podcast has been posted over at www.usedwigsradio.com, and this time we had the queen of the Philly social scene, Rachel Furman (of www.rachelsguide.com), live in the studio with us for the entire show! We had a lot of fun, and the show is a great one - give it a spin!

New Written Review On Used Wigs

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

It has been a while, but I just jumped back into the reviewing crossfire with a write-up on one of my newest favorite bands - the Seattle band Half Acre Day, and their new release “Fourteen Trips Around The Sun”. Check it out by clicking the image below.

Former Levelheads Working Together Again!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

In a reunion of sorts, bass player Jim Smith officially re-entered the fold this past week when he stopped by to lay down some bass tracks for “Legacy”, a song that we used to play with the Levelheads that is being prepared for the second Mattowax EP along with a bunch of other old standards. Oh yeah, as an aside, the first Mattowax EP is still being mixed but is closer than ever to being DONE. In a few weeks we should have samples up on the site and soon after it will be available for purchase and download.

Anyway - back to Jim - this is significant because it’s the first time that the four original Levelheads have worked together on new studio recordings since 2004, and the first time we’ve really played together since a few scattered shows in the summer of 2006. Lots of good things should be happening in the coming months involving these and other musicians, so there’s a lot going on. Thanks for taking the ride with us!

Russ Joins Obedia Affiliate Team

Friday, October 19th, 2007

What is Obedia? Well, if you’re a musician and have been doing the digital thing for any length of time, you know how maddening technology issues can be, or what it can be like trying to tweak the technology to get it to do what you want. I’ve spent countless head-scratching hours over the years trying to figure out what these guys seem to know how to do intuitively - so when given the chance to be part of the their affiliate team, I gladly lent my name to the cause! I would only endorse people who are absolute pros and “good folk” - and these guys pass with flying colors. In fact, a testimonial I wrote is right on their home page!

So, for your multimedia and especially audio-based head scratchers, check ‘em out - and tell them who sent you!

UsedWigs Radio Goes Respectable

Monday, October 1st, 2007

The UsedWigs Radio podcasting team (myself, Todd Marrone, and Jeff Lyons) has been asked to speak to the “Theory of Electronic Communications” graduate-level class at Philadelphia University in early October. It’s not open to the public, but I still thought it worth sharing because it’s pretty cool. I imagine our honorary doctorates in Communication can’t be far behind…
