The Levelheads RETURN! 12/5/08

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

We’ve just announced the reunion show for the newly reformed Levelheads: it’s at Milkboy Coffee on Friday, December 5th. We will take the stage at 8:00 PM, but come early for DJ Lightborn. Also, we’ll be supporting Todd Marrone’s “Passing The Torch” art installation, which you can read more about on his website. Come out and see us as we usher in the next wave of The Levelheads!

Thanks for Coming to Milkboy! PLUS, Show Announcement for 10/4

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Thanks to all who came out to Milkboy in Ardmore on Friday - we had a lot of fun, and were glad to be sharing the bill with The Bridge Band, who it is safe to say blew us all away with their songwriting and musicianship - great stuff!

We’ve actually just announced one final Hulihees show - it looks like we’re going to be lucky enough to have Ron until mid October, so our 10/4 show at Burlap & Bean will be the final send-off! If things change, I’ll still be playing there in some capacity, be it MATTOWAX or one of the other projects a brewin’…so, keep it in mind! More to come as the details are finalized. Be well!

The Hulihees - Last Show?

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

You read that right…the fearless leader of The Hulihees, Handsome Ron Foligno, has announced his intent to move back to sunny Arizona this Fall - so time is slipping away. We’ve got a great night planned at Milkboy Coffee in Ardmore on Friday night, August 22nd, and it could very well be our last show with the band.

However, it’s not all gloom and doom - there are already plans for some cross-country recording to finish up work on the EP we were working on (”Canned Pants”), and who knows where things will go from there. Plus, let’s focus on 8/22 - it is going to be a fantastic night on which we’ll be sharing the stage with our friends the FANTASTIC spiritual rock band The Bridge Band, supporting their second album “Love”. Things should be kicking off early (8PM sharp!), so I’d try to be there 7-ish if possible to get a good seat. Should be a great night - hope to see you there!

New Show: MATTOWAX & The Hulihees

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Hi all -

Another new show has been announced - this time at the Milkboy Coffee Acoustic Cafe, which is located at 824 West Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr, PA (610-527-0690) - on Saturday night, June 7th.  The show is part of the “Artstravaganza”, helmed by our own Todd Marrone - and will feature live sets by both MATTOWAX and The Hulihees. The MATTOWAX set is particularly exciting since we will be playing several new songs for the first time, including the much-asked-for “Most Likely To Succeed” off of the latest EP. We’ll also be using some new looping technology to get a fuller sound in small acoustic environment with less players and less volume…we’re very excited about it!

Of course, an evening with The Hulihees is always worth coming out for - there will be plenty of Handsome Ron’s signature tunes and banter, in a stripped-down acoustic format…so, lots of “New” even for those familiar with the “Old”.

The Artstravaganza will feature:

1. Todd’s Month-Long Art Show: “Withdrawn”, a series of discarded library books on which he paints on the covers and rigs them to hang on the walls. In his words, “it will be literally liter-tastic.”

2. The aforementioned
June 7th Reception Musical Performance

3. The
June 7th Reception Art Performance: Todd will join the bands on stage to make a couple of live paintings. He’ll also hand out FREE custom artwork to patrons and adoring fans.

Everything kicks in at 8:00 PM - we look forward to seeing you!

Hulihees at the North Star Bar, 5/4/08

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Russell Gellman and I have been perfecting our studio tans for the better part of the last year, and were shocked to recently realize that we haven’t played a show since the later part of 2007! All that is about to change, however - The Hulihees have been asked to play at the mighty North Star Bar in Philly on Sunday, May 4th. We’re in the midst of nailing down the details as far as what time we go on and the other bands we’ll be playing with, but mark your calendars either way - the show is a done deal, and we should be either the first or second band on.

We actually haven’t played this legendary stage since the heady days of the Levelheads in late ‘05, so it’ll be a welcome return. Come on out and see the more stripped-down version of the band - a little louder, a little grittier, but still quirky and fun. Huzzah!
